Meadowdale Middle School seventh-grader Adriana Valadez of Edmonds took first place for her division (15 years old and under female), running against 174 competitors in the Seahawks 5K run last Sunday, April 14.

According to her mother Lisa Valadez, Adriana placed 35th overall in the female category of 2,822 runners. The 13-year-old attends Meadowdale Middle School, where she runs cross country for coach Cheryl Wilson.

The event, Seahawks 12K at the Landing, offers both a 12K and 5K race to raise money for A Better Seattle — lead by head coach Pete Carroll & the Seattle Seahawks — to make a long-term impact for our youth. Adriana ran the race with her friend, Kaylee Whatmore, who also attends Meadowdale Middle School.
