Cascade Symphony Orchestra awards scholarships to three Edmonds School District students

Three Edmonds School District students were awarded music scholarships by the Cascade Symphony Orchestra.

The recipient of the $2,500 Robert Anderson Scholarship is Lucy Schermer, Flute, of Mountlake Terrace High School. Schermer will be attending Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the fall.

The winners of the $2,000 Cascade Symphony Scholarships are Alfred Yi, Bassoon, Edmonds-Woodway High School, who will be attending Pomona College in Claremont, California next year and Mackenzie Alvarez, Percussion, Meadowdale High School, who plans to attend Western Washington University.
Each year the Cascade Symphony Orchestra awards scholarships to graduating seniors from the Edmonds, Mukilteo, Northshore and Shoreline school districts. Scholarship winners, who are selected by taped audition, must plan to continue their musical studies in college but need not intend to major in music.
