The victim was a 60-year-old Marysville man who was part of a group of helping to do maintenance on the dive park. said Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes.
A ferry crew notified 911 dispatchers when they spotted the diver floating in the water near the dock at about 12:15 p.m. “The crew deployed a small rescue boat from the ferry and brought the diver to the beach south of the dock. Firefighters on the beach performed CPR, but were unable to revive the diver,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1, which provides fire and emergency medical service in the City of Edmonds.
The victim’s fellow divers told firefighters he was an experienced diver and well acquainted with the dive park.
At this point, it is unknown how the man died. The name of the diver and cause of his death will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office after they have completed their investigation and notified family.
