Edmonds-area high school sports roundup for Thursday
Boys soccer: Meadowdale 2, Glacier Peak 1
After losing to the Grizzlies twice during the regular season, the Mavericks came up on the winning end when it counted the most, beating Glacier Peak in a loser-out 3A District 1 playoff game at Glacier Peak High School. Tristan Springer and Alec Norton both scored goals off of assists from Stuart Smith. Meadowdale (11-6-2) faces Marysville-Pilchuck (10-9) in a winner-to-state/loser-out 3A tournament game at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at Shoreline Stadium. The Mavericks beat the Tomahawks 2-1 during the regular season.
Softball: Meadowdale 14, Mountlake Terrace 1 (5)
Julia Reuble was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and four RBI and Emma Helm was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI as the Mavericks beat the Hawks in a Wesco 3A South game at Mountlake Terrace High School. Samantha Gregoryk picked up the victory for Meadowdale (13-0 in the league, 16-2 overall). The Mavericks open 3A District 1 playoff action against Marysville-Getchell at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 20 at Phil Johnson Fields in Everett.
