Two direct quotes from the Than Brothers website say it all!
Pho “the soup is the makings of a lunch or light supper. Pho is especially invigorating in cool weather and to those recovering from a cold.” (This is my husband’s excuse for frequenting the location nearest to our home!)
“In 1996, we open our first Than Brothers Restaurants on Aurora Ave in North Seattle area. We serve only Pho (or rice noodle soup) and cream puff for dessert. Pho and cream puff is our specialty because it’s from mom’s secret recipes. Our restaurant is among few first restaurants serve Pho in North Seattle area. Over time, business grew; we expanded Than Brothers Restaurant to multiple locations in Seattle and nearby areas. At Than Brothers Restaurants, we commit to provide our customers the best services and the best value meal.”
A value it is. So quickly served one would think the waiters could read our minds. Within five to six minutes of being seated, which is almost instantaneous unless it is an extremely busy time of day, I had a steaming bowl of pho placed in front of me. This serving of Vietnamese-style soup joined the already delivered plate of the aforementioned cream puffs and a heaping plate of fresh bean sprouts, basil, lime wedges and slices of jalapeno.
Our servers know us on site and have adapted to changes in our diet as we evolved ourselves. When faced with healthier eating after recent heart surgery, my husband switched from his usual Tai (with eye-round steak) Pho to the Pho Chay, the Veggie Pho (100-percent vegetarian) noodle soup. Always lush with cilantro, ginger, onions and lots of aromatic spices, topped with tofu, to my husband’s delight they have recently embellished its content with the additional mushrooms, and new to the pot: carrot and broccoli! He will still sometimes nibble on his cream puff, but often takes it home to our son.
My husband and I are such frequent customers that one day when he visited the restaurant to dine alone, a worried-looking server rushed over to ask “Where is your wife?” Now that is what I call attention to detail and great customer service! It made me chuckle too and I asked, “What would happen if you showed up with a strange woman?”
Take out is amazingly swift as well. No need to call ahead. Bags are brought out of the kitchen for your “to go” orders in short order. Who says one can’t get healthy fast food? It is a cinch if there is a Than Brothers close by!
Than (pronounced TAN) Brothers’ Edmonds location is in Bohan Plaza at 22618 Hwy 99, Edmonds, 425-744-0212
They have also opened a new location in Meadowdale Plaza, which while technically is in Lynnwood, may be a much handier location for those living in North Edmonds. Address is 16809 Highway 99, 425-999-6596.
