Meadowdale baseball, soccer teams win loser-out district playoff games
Justin Ridley scored what turned out to be the winning run in the top of the seventh inning when Alex Thompson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs as the Mavericks pulled out the victory in a loser-out 3A District 1 game at Ferndale High School Tuesday. Meadowdale fell behind 3-0 in the first inning after Ferndale had five hits off of Meadowdale starter Moises Valadez. The Mavericks then rallied for three runs in the third when Kenley Ackerman stroked a bases-loaded two run single and a throwing error allowed the third run to score. Ackerman, Ridley and Brett Shafer each had two hits for Meadowdale (13-9 overall), who will face Shorewood in a loser-out game at 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 14 at Meridian Park Fields in Shoreline.
Boys soccer: Meadowdale 3, Oak Harbor 0
Colton Davis and Tristan Springer each scored a goal to help lead the Mavericks past the Wildcats in a loser-out 3A District 1 playoff game at Oak Harbor High School Tuesday. Austen Panek assisted on Davis’ goal and then Davis assisted on Springer’s goal. Taylor Linton, off an assist from Springer, closed out the scoring. Mark Steinke recorded the shutout for Meadowdale (10-6-2) plays Glacier Peak in a loser-out game at 7 p.m, Thursday, May 15 at Glacier Peak High School.
