Scuba diver who died in Edmonds May 24 identified

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has identified the man who died while scuba diving at the Edmonds Underwater Park on Saturday, May 24 as 60-year-old Ralph L. Sweet of Marysville.

The cause of death was drowning related to cardiac arrhythmia, the medical examiner said.

Sweet was part of a group of helping to do maintenance on the dive park May 24. A ferry crew notified 911 dispatchers when they spotted the diver floating in the water near the dock at about 12:15 p.m. The crew deployed rescue boats from the ferry and brought the diver to the beach south of the dock. Firefighters on the beach performed CPR, but were unable to revive him.
