Both the Edmonds-Woodway’s boys and girls track teams came away with victories in the Edmonds District Meet at Edmonds Stadium Friday. Meadowdale finished second on the boys’ side while Mountlake Terrace had a second-place team finish for the girls.
E-W outscored Terrace 166 to 155 to win the girls team title at the Edmonds School District track championships Friday at Edmonds Stadium. The Lynnwood girls took third place with 150 points; Meadowdale rounded out the scoring with 65 points. The Edmonds-Woodway boys walked away with the boys team championship with 175 points. Meadowdale took second place with 150 points, followed by Mountlake Terrace at 106 points and Lynnwood with 82 points.
Edmonds-Woodway’s Djenne Dickens and Mountlake Terrace’s Barbara Biney battled in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters, with the Warrior senior winning both events. Dickens’ time of 12.39 in the 100 meters beat out second place Biney’s 12.64; Biney was the runner-up to Dickens in the 200 meters also.
On the boys side, Theo Lebesis helped lead the Warriors to the team title by capturing three events, the discus, shot put and javelin. E-W’s Grant Whitcutt won the high jump at 6-0.
