Yost Pool opening delayed until June 16

The opening of Edmonds’ Yost Pool for the 2014 season has been delayed two weeks due to setbacks with the installation of the new boiler. The pool was scheduled to be open June 2.

Although the project started early enough, the contractor ran into issues along the way. The delay in the delivery of parts has caused the most recent schedule change.

According to a city press release:

At this time we anticipate that we will open the pool on Monday, June 16. 2014. The City of Edmonds and the YMCA are working together to see if there is an opportunity to extend the season.

The pool schedule, pricing and programs can be found at yostpool.edmondswa.gov. Registration for swim team, swim lessons and other pool programs is now underway. Rentals are now being taken and swim passes are on sale. Call 425-771-0230 or stop by the Recreation Office at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St.

  1. For those of us who wait all year for this wonderful pool to be open during a very short summer season, a two-week delay is a noticeable loss. Why did this repair job get started so late?
