Edmonds mayor appointed to AWC Ad Hoc Freight Rail Committee
Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling has been appointed to the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Ad Hoc Freight Rail Committee. The first meeting of the group will take place this week at the AWC Conference in Spokane.
“With the projected growth of freight rail traffic through Edmonds and the State, I am pleased AWC is beginning to take on this important issue,” Earling said. “It is important for AWC to develop a unified voice related to increased rail traffic.”
The committee is made up of representatives from across Washington state and will address a number of city concerns related to rail safety, mobility and service. The committee will also coordinate with affected cities, Washington’s congressional delegation, state, federal and local agencies, and other stakeholders, to develop recommendations.
