My Edmonds News announced a few weeks ago that it was seeking stories of folks doing good deeds and small kindnesses — and we received this one, from Julie Huffman:

We have a large yard that the neighborhood kids love to play on. They refer to it as “Huffman park”. In our busy lives we struggle to keep the grass cut and maintain the beds. One day we came home and saw that the grass had been mowed and everything was weeded. We couldn’t believe it and didn’t know how it had happened. The kids had taken it on as a project on a day off of school, deciding to “clean up Huffman Park.” Here they are after their hard work was done.

  1. Special thanks to the Moms behind the scene: Shealah Welsch, Ema Perez, Heather Quintans and Sheri Ambacher-Bury.

  2. What a lovely, caring thing! Bravo to the kids (and parents). So happy to have good news featured. Contrast these thoughtful children to the vandals who destroyed 4 yards in our neighborhood. What were they thinking?! Thanks for the good deeds column, Teresa.
