The City of Edmonds is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 for the playground portion of the City Park Play and Spray Revitalization project.

As we covered in our story here, the city’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department used a “Community Build” model last month to install a new playground at the park, located at 3rd and Howell, that involved more than100 volunteers over a three-day period.

In addition to the new playground, the project will include a spray park, set to open in summer 2015.

The project is funded by $500,000 from the city, a $500,000 matching grant from the Washington State Recreation Conservation Office and $80,000 from Snohomish County, plus $270,000 toward the spray park from the Hazel Miller Foundation.
