The Edmonds-based Miss Peters and May unlimited unlimited hydroplane ended up fourth in qualifying for Sunday’s Indiana Governor’s Cup in Madison.

Driver Tom Thompson took Scott and Shannon Raney’s unlimited hydroplane out for six qualifying laps with a top speed of just over 143 mph for a lap around the Ohio River course.

Three boats hit speeds higher than our local Hydro. The Oberto qualified at over 148 mph, the defending national champion Graham Trucking qualified just over 146 mph and the Spirit of Qatar also was just over 146 mph

This puts our local Hydro in the top half of the field heading into Sunday’s race. Follow full coverage of the 2014 unlimited hydroplane season-opener here on My Edmonds News.
