Edmonds Kind of Fourth of July 2014: What you need to know
From a fun run/walk, to parades, to a firefighters waterball competition, to evening entertainment and fireworks, Friday is definitely an Edmonds Kind of 4th! Here are all the details of one of our community’s signature events, sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce and made possible through the support of the Hazel Miller Foundation.
5K Fourth of July fun run/walk at 10 a.m. through historic downtown Edmonds (starts at Edmonds City Park, 3rd & Walnut).
Children’s Parade at 11:30 a.m. with 2,500-plus children in costumes, in wagons, on bicycles. Children’s Parade registration is free and begins on July 4 at 10:15 a.m. at 5th and Walnut (near Chase Bank) with the parade starting at 11:30 a.m. Applications can be downloaded in advance at www.edmondswa.com. Free face painting is offered during registration, so arrive early to register and get your face painted.
Main Parade at noon with nearly 10,000 spectators lining the streets for a two-hour march through the heart of Edmonds. The parade features award-winning marching bands, local celenbrities, street performers, magnificent floats and even a few politicians waving from convertibles. Can’t make it to the parade? My Edmonds News TV will be streaming it live at this link, and it will also be archived for later viewing.
