Edmonds Military Wire: Marines invade Seattle for Marine Week

Captain Samuel Nicholas, the young man credited with forming the Continental Marines back in 1775, would likely be proud to hear the Marines are invading Seattle this week – after all, what better city to occupy during a week of summer?

The invasion started Saturday, July 26, 2014. As confirmed by the Plans and Strategy Branch from Marine Corps Headquarters, “Marines from all over the country will be heading to Emerald City to celebrate 238 years of Community, Country, and Corps.”

Monday 28 July

  • 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.: National Museum of the Marine Corps and Eyes of Freedom Memorial on display @ Seattle Center- International Fountain Pavilion

Tuesday 29 July

  • 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.: National Museum of the Marine Corps and Eyes of Freedom Memorial on display @ Seattle Center- International Fountain Pavilion

Wednesday 30 July

  • 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.: National Museum of the Marine Corps and Eyes of Freedom Memorial on display @ Seattle Center- International Fountain Pavilion
  • 1:30 p.m.: Parade of Ships @ Lake Washington

Thursday 31 July

  • 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.: National Museum of the Marine Corps and Eyes of Freedom Memorial on display @ Seattle Center- International Fountain Pavilion
  • 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.: Static Displays @ Museum of Flight
  • 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.: Service Project @ Kubota Garden Natural Area

Friday 1 August

Bottom line: Take time this week to experience not only the fantastic weather, but also make moments rubbing shoulders with some of America’s best service members. And yes, that is coming from a diehard Sailor.
