Summertime spotlight: ArtWise NW
In My Edmonds News’ ongoing series on local summertime businesses, Dori Glass of ArtWise NW sent the following notice:
“ArtWise NW is a mom-owned, teacher-run art business based out of Edmonds. At ArtWise NW, we bring ‘Art Beyond The Ordinary’ to youth and adults. We offer camps, creativity workshops, classes, custom curriculum and birthday parties for adults and kids. We recently debuted some of our PNW tribal art curriculum at The Edmonds Art Festival. Over 1,300 kids and even more parents got to create free art inspired by our beautiful WA coast and Native tribes.
“During the summer, we run art camps for ages 6-13 in Edmonds and in Mill Creek. Instead of letting your kids ‘hang around,’ you could be hanging up quality art on your walls. We still have one camp open for summer 2014. Our last camp ‘Art of Letters’ in Downtown Edmonds is Aug. 18-22 with half-day and full-day options. Artists will love this fun art camp where letters and fine art collide. Each artist will enjoy mastering creative fonts, text and space, line & textures, as well as color theory. Every day fine art mediums such as pen&ink, watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel and charcoal will inspire artists to create fabulous letter based pieces. Full-Day artists get to master clay and sculpture every afternoon! Register online here.
“Keep us in mind when you’re planning your summer party or get-together. We host art parties at your house or location of choice. You pick from our fun menu of art mediums and options including painting, clay, and metal. This upcoming Fall we will be offering in-house creativity workshop field trips for schools. A percent of the proceeds go back to each host school to fund more student art.”
