Classic cars come out to promote Sept. 7 Edmonds show

Bruce and Elaine Nicholson (Elaine in a genuine poodle skirt and blouse) stand by Bruce's 1941 Chevy convertible.  Both Edmonds natives, the couple met while attending Edmonds High School and quickly became sweethearts.  They graduated with the class of 1953 and were married in 1955.  "My first car was a 1941 Chevy convertible just like this," said Bruce.  "Elaine and I traveled all over in it while we were courting."  They married in 1955, and are looking forward to a big party for their 60th anniversary next year.

Larry Vogel was on hand to capture the fun of Thursday night’s kickoff for the Edmonds Classic Car Show, set for Sunday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. in downtown Edmonds.

The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce Car Show Committee gathered outside of Engels Pub, where Elvis impersonator Shane Cobane belted out tunes for the crowd. Cobane will also be performing during the car show.

More than 300 cars are expected for the annual show, which includes a full day of events for the whole family. Registration applications can be picked up from the Edmonds Chamber office or go online to register at www.edmondswa.com.

• 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Car Show
• 4:30 p.m. – Awards
• 10 a.m.-8 p.m. – Beer Garden
• 5-8 p.m. – Live Music
