Edmonds woman gives back — literally — to senior center

Gloria Osberg won $1,000 in a Aug. 21 money raffle drawing at the Edmonds Senior Center, but on Friday she gave half of it back.

Osberg officially donated half of her winnings — $500 — to the senior center; the other half is going to the Alzheimer’s Association.

According to Senior Center Program Manager Michelle Burke, for the past three years the center nets about $10,000 annually on its money raffle fundraiser. “The proceeds are used for our general operating fund, as the senior center is responsible for raising 70 percent of its annual budget of $600,000,” Burke said.

The Edmonds Senior Center is a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
