Edmonds residents Tom and Beth Sanger bought Ombú Salon + Spa in January 2014 after Beth learned the salon was about to shut down. Upon investigation, Beth and Tom discovered the core of Ombú Salon + Spa featured a skilled and knowledgeable team of stylists, make-up artists, aestheticians, massage therapists and salon coordinators dedicated to their jobs and community. Despite having limited knowledge of the industry, the Sangers felt the existing team would help guide the transition, so they jumped in. Since becoming co-owners, the Sangers have fully embraced the salon, which uses organic products. The owners provided this update on the salon along with a back-to-school special for readers:
Is it time to give up those carefree, beachy waves for a more polished hairstyle? Perhaps you’d like to add some darker color into your lightened tresses? Summer may not yet be over, but now is the time to do something about your back-to-school style. Even if your school days are behind you, your look may be ready for a seasonal update. Whatever your need, the stylists at Ombú Salon + Spa can help you create the look that will put you at the top of your class.
In order to make the transition from summer a little less painful, Ombú Salon + Spa is offering 20% off one back-to-school service when you mention this column during the month of August.
Ombú Salon + Spa features all organic services and products; setting it apart from all the other salon/spas in the area. The products it sells are thoughtful and don’t contain harsh chemicals and additives such as parabens, formaldehyde, or plastics. When you walk through the door at Ombú Salon + Spa, you are enveloped in the tranquil, natural brown and green decor. The walls are decorated simply and tastefully with original artwork from local artists – and change on a rotating basis. Two softly-lit massage rooms as well as another private room for facials, hair removal and tinting invite you in for peaceful rest and relaxation. And best of all, none of the chemical odors associated with the typical salon/spas will assault your senses.
“My goal was to have an organic option to every service that we offer,” said co-owner Beth Sanger. “The Edmonds community is full of forward-thinkers who know that organic is not only good for the environment, but good for them.”
Beth travels with team members to conferences, sits in on training, and spends most of her free time in the salon putting personal touches on every service and product. She admits that it’s been more fun than she first imagined. “I’m learning a lot and meeting a lot of great people. It’s nice to be part of a business dedicated to making people feel wonderful,” said Beth.
Being a vital part of the community of Edmonds is important to Ombú Salon + Spa. It hosts local artists during the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk. They have also teamed up with other downtown Edmonds businesses by co-sponsoring “Girls’ Night Out” parties at Rogue and by recommending local eateries after services to extend a pampering “day off.”
Ombú Salon + Spa is a full service salon and spa and offers a full menu of services including haircut and style, coloring, texturizing, blowouts; Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone massage, reflexology, facials, peels, waxing and sugaring, brow and lash tinting, eyelash fills, spa packages and much more.
