Man dies after being struck in forklift accident at Lynnwood business

A 69-year old Bothell man was struck by a box that fell off a forklift while he was walking through a parking lot of a Lynnwood business in the 4000 block of 198th Street Southwest in Lynnwood, at about 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18.

The victim, who eventually died in a Seattle hospital, was a business customer.

Lynnwood Police and Fire arrived to investigate the incident. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries. The forklift driver, a 46-year-old Edmonds man, was an employee of the business. He was driving the forklift through the lot with a box of merchandise on the forks and advised police that he saw a flash of “blue” go in front of the forklift and he slammed on the brakes. The box on the forklift fell forward and landed on the customer.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office advised that the victim died at approximately 1:30 a.m.. Tuesday, Aug. 19. Lynnwood Police detectives are continuing to investigate.
