Author Sandra Walker visits the Edmonds Library on Monday at 11 a.m. to talk about her book, ‘Little Merchants: The Golden Era of Youth Delivering Newspapers.’ The event is hosted by EPIC Group Writers as part of Monday morning writing group which meets at 10 a.m. Seating is limited to the first twenty people, so be advised to arrive early.
Walker’s talk, ‘Capable, Yet Controversial,’ features the myths, misadventures, and misdeeds of paperboys, who played a key role in the 20th Century, before the profession disappeared. Walker began her research as part of a pilot project at Seattle’s Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) and interviewed hundreds of “silver-haired” paperboys and girls.
Walker is a writer, teacher, and a member of the Write on the Sound (WOTS) steering committee. For more information, see her website. And to learn more about local literary events, visit nonprofit EPIC Group Writers.
