Shoreline CC’s Global Affairs Center presents two programs this week

The Global Affairs Center at Shoreline Community College, directed by Edmonds resident Larry Fuell, will sponsor two presentations this week:

A lunchtime Global Eyes series presentation Wednesday, Oct. 15: “Washington State-Japan Relations: Looking Toward a Mutually Prosperous Future” will feature speaker Masahiro Omura, Consul General, Consulate General of Japan, Seattle.

In our increasingly globalized world, Washington State and Japan have a strong connection, economically, socially and culturally. Find out more about this longstanding partnership and discover something new about Japan.

The presentation, free and open to the public, will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Room 9208 PUB. The campus map is here.

Then, on Thursday evening, Oct. 16, the center will feature the Cultural Roots of Urban-Acoustic-Folk-Soul Music with Reggie Garrett and the Snake-Oil Peddlers, an exciting blend of Latin rhythms, blues, gospel, Celtic and more.

The free event, part of the Humanities and Social Change Symposium, runs from 7-8:30 p.m. at Shoreline Community College, Room 9208 PUB.
