Work got underway last week on the one-mile, $3.4 million Lakeview Trail that will stretch from the Interurban Trail at 228th Street Southwest just east of the Edmonds-Mountlake Terrace border to the west end of the 236th Street Southwest I-5 overpass in Mountlake Terrace.

The project is funded in part by a $2.08 million from the Surface Transportation Program of the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. The City of Mountlake Terrace is picking up the remaining cost of trail construction.

The Mountlake Terrace City Council at its March 16 meeting awarded the $3.4 million construction contract to Taylor’s Excavators of Stanwood. Construction is expected to take approximately six months.
