Edmonds author Nicki Chen has been named a finalist in the 9th Annual 2015 National Indie Excellence Awards for her debut novel, “Tiger Tail Soup.” Chen takes the honor in the category of Historical Fiction.
“Tiger Tail Soup” tells the story of a young Chinese woman whose peaceful life is thrown into turmoil when her husband disappears and Japanese forces surround her island home in southeastern China. Chen’s late husband was born in the midst of that war, and it was the stories he told of his childhood that inspired her to write the book.
The National Indie Excellence Awards, based in Beverly Hills, Calif. is open to all English language books in print from small, medium, university, self and independent publishers.
“Tiger Tail Soup” is available at the Edmonds Bookshop, 111 5th Ave. S.
