The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch in effect from Friday afternoon until late Saturday night in our area.
High temperatures Friday afternoon will reach the mid-80s to lower 90s, and then will not drop below 80 in many areas until after 9 p.m. Friday night, the weather service said. Temperatures will finally fall into the 60s after midnight. Saturday is expected to be the hottest day, with high temperatures reaching the upper 80s to mid-90s in the afternoon.
A reminder that during hot weather, it’s important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. If you are more susceptible to
the heat, it’s advised that you stay inside in air conditioned areas. Avoid leaving children and pets unattended in cars, as temperatures inside parked cars can rise very quickly to deadly levels.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions and check on relatives and neighbors.
