The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and SNOCOM are warning the public about a new social media prank that is tying up 9-1-1 operators.

The prank tells people to ask Siri to call 112 (which is the equivalent to 911 in Europe) to see what happens. Siri — a built-in “intelligent assistant” available to Apple iPhone users — then dials 9-1-1, which is tying up operators, making it harder for others to report real emergencies. .

If you need help in the U.S. or Canada, dial 9-1-1.
