City introduces commercial space/site locator for businesses

In its continuing effort to encourage new businesses to move to Edmonds and existing Edmonds businesses to expand and grow, the City of Edmonds has added a new feature to its website that lets users find available commercial building space and/or properties for lease or sale. Based on information supplied by online commercial-space clearinghouse officespace.com, the feature allows an interested party to peruse available commercial sites by category (retail, office, industrial, land).

“Together with our new regional business-attraction advertising campaign, this feature on our enhanced website will really be a great new resource for business owners potentially interested in relocating or expanding to Edmonds,” said Economic Development and Community Services Director Patrick Doherty.

The commercial space locator can be found on the City of Edmonds website at www.YourBizInEdmonds. This service does not take the place of working directly with a broker and, in fact, each property listing displayed has a link to the corresponding broker. For that reason, the city encourages all owners of building and land in Edmonds with available space for lease or sale to add their information, free of charge, to this growing database by contact John Heimbigner at officespace.com (heimb@officespace.com) or by contacting Doherty at patrick.doherty@edmondswa.gov

“By increasing the number and array of businesses in Edmonds, we hope to provide more in-town jobs for our residents and help grow the local economy,” Doherty said.

  1. We do hope that new businesses will provide on-site parking for employees. Many of the streets (especially 4th Ave. S) are jam-packed with Downtown Employee cars all day long and sometimes into the night, leaving no room for residents’ visitors and patrons of local businesses to park. This situation is getting increasingly out of control.
