  1. This patchwork repair is a waste of time and $$$$$. The street is subsiding in spots east of 5th Ave, and should be completely torn up, regraded, and repaved. A study of the entire street is needed, as traffic has greatly increased in the twenty-four years I have lived in Edmonds.

Dayton serves as a main route through the downtown area between Ninth Ave. and the waterfront. It bypasses the congestion of Main St. and the “adventurous” four way stop at Fifth Ave. that many drivers treat as a traffic circle around the fountain.

Left turn arrows need to be added to the traffic signals at the intersection of Dayton and Sunset Ave./Hwy. 104. Westbound traffic headed to the waterfront is often backed up the hill to Third Ave. Eastbound traffic is often backed up to the railroad tracks, especially after a train has passed through town. Both situations make cars waiting to make left turns from Dayton to Sunset sit through several light changes, which causes even greater backups.

    1. Public Works knows better than anyone that the road needs to be rebuilt and would have done it years ago had the funds been available. This is temporary work to improve the situation until they hopefully have sufficient funds in the next year or two to do a proper job. As a resident of this area I’m pleased that they decided to do the work.
