  1. i know next to nothing about trees, so please correct me if i’m wrong

considering the placement of those tree – lined up perfectly, bordering a perfect sidewalk and a “grass” carpet

and no roots to speak of, just a “fur ball” to hold them in place…

it’s amazing they haven’t come down sooner

if i were the property owner, i think i’d have a case against the person/company that put them there, i would assume, pretty much fully “grown”…

  2. There are trees all over Edmonds that are dangerous both for potential personal injury, property damage or taking out our power. As a community we need to think through all the issues of our trees. The planning board meeting on the Tree Board recommended ordinance for trees caught most by surprise. Let do some work now that will add not only to the protection of trees but to public safety.

  3. Someone suggested to me that the drought caused the trees to raise their roots to the surface. Not sure if that’s true, but it would explain why they all flipped over. By the way, when I took a picture with my cellphone, there was a lot of “wave” interference. Not sure where that was coming from.

  4. The problem is probably poor preparation of the ground before planting – road building and construction compact the soil too much and the roots stay in the nice, thin layer of topsoil added (inadequately) at the time of planting. The subsoil should have been broken up to allow the roots to go deeper.
