Scott Mauk, principal of Edmonds Heights K-12 School, will be the guest speaker at the Edmonds Kiwanis Club meeting at noon Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the Pancake Haus, 530 5th Ave. S.
Since 2013, Mauk has served as principal of Edmonds Heights K-12, an alternative school serving families of children who are home schooled. He came to Edmonds from the South Whidbey School District, where he was the assistant principal/athletic director at South Whidbey High School. He also had worked as South Whidbey’s director of special education/special projects and its K-12 Highly Capable Learners Program.
Mauk has been a member of the Washington Association for Learning Alternatives since 1996, receiving the 2006 WALA Educator of the Year Award and the Washington Association of School Administrators Region 109 Outstanding Student Achievement Recognition Award in 2010. He has been a keynote speaker and featured in interviews and articles about alternative education and violence in schools, among other topics.
