Lois Brandt, author of the children’s book “Maddi’s Fridge,” visited Westgate Elementary School last month to talk about the book and its theme of how everyone can help those in their community who need food.
“Maddie’s Fridge” is a touching story of one little girl who always has an empty fridge at home. When her best friend found out, she tried all possible ways to help her friend fight hunger.
The author talked with Westgate students about her writing process and also how “Maddi’s Fridge” was inspired by an event in her life. Students were doing writing projects as part of Young Author’s Day and to kick off a school-wide food drive.
