Crews are working this week on roadway striping and various closing tasks alongside 228th Street Southwest, Lakeview Drive and 236th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace, all part of the final stages of the $3.4 million Lakeview Trail project.
The new Lakeview Trail walkway runs from the Interurban Trail at the Mountlake Terrace-Edmonds boundary on 228th Street Southwest to the 236th Street Southwest I-5 overpass. The project not only involved construction of the one-mile paved trail, but also the installation of curb and ADA ramps, a new fence alongside Ballinger Park, and a new stoplight at 65th Place West.
This week’s work may cause some delays for motorists during daytime work hours, but no lane closures are expected, city officials said.
The City of Mountlake Terrace is submitting the Lakeview Trail project for consideration of two awards given by the Washington Recreation and Parks Association – a Walkable Washington Symposium and Innovation Award and a Trail/Path Spotlight Award. City officials also plan to nominate the project for the Livable Communities Award and the Puget Sound Regional Council VISION 2040 Award.
City and state officials celebrated the opening of the Lakeview Trail with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last October.

Congratulations on a lovely path. The only issue I have is a large portion of the trail is grossly covered in goose droppings. ALLThe time.
