Workshop to learn about Great Backyard Bird Count set for Saturday

GBBC 2016 Flyers-Edm-Arl.docx finalThe 2016 Great Backyard Bird Count is scheduled for Feb. 12– 15. If you are interested in participating and want to learn more about this important international count, Pilchuck Audubon is sponsoring a workshop this Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Edmonds Wildlife Habitat Native Plant Demonstration Garden from 10 a.m.– noon.

The free workshop will be given by Dr. Alan Mearns and will include information about the Great Backyard Bird Count and how to recognize local common backyard birds. You will also have an opportunity to practice identifying and reporting these birds (please bring your binoculars). Everyone is welcome to attend and it is not necessary to pre-register.

The Demo Garden is located at the Willow Creek Hatchery on the northwest corner of Pine Street and Edmonds Way. On Saturday Feb. 6, there will also be a work party at the Demo Garden from 10 a.m.– 1 p.m. and volunteers are needed and welcome.
