The Edmonds Arts Festival (EAF) has selected an original oil painting by Edmonds artist Michele Usibelli for its annual commemorative poster to celebrate its 59th year.
In describing the scene depicted in “Ferry Route” EAF representative Julaine Fleetwood describes the poster, “The richly colored oil painting . . . places the viewer on Main Street, walking toward Puget Sound. In this intriguingly lit vignette of everyday life, one can actually feel the energy of downtown Edmonds. It evokes the emotion of what it’s like to live here and enjoy the downtown on a crisp sunny spring day.”
Festival directors approached Usibelli to submit her art for poster consideration for a number of reasons. One of the goals of the Festival, which is a not for profit event, is to support the arts and artists in Edmonds. In addition to being an accomplished local artist, the creativity, style, and energy of her work reflects our town and the spirit of the event. Michele is very involved in our community through the arts by showing in local galleries, teaching art classes, volunteering in the schools, and participating in the Edmonds Arts Studio Tour.
At notification of the acceptance of her painting, Usibelli stated: “I am honored to have been asked to participate and have this particular artwork selected for this year’s Festival poster. I love living and raising my family in the picturesque, energetic, and creative community of Edmonds!”
Usibelli’s award-winning artwork has shown in both group and solo gallery exhibitions as well as in regional, national, and international juried exhibitions. She has won numerous awards, most recently the Silver Medal Award at the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York City. Her work is included in the permanent collection at University of Alaska Fairbanks Museum of the North. Her artwork can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
The 2016 Edmonds Arts Festival poster will be for sale in the Festival Store during the Edmonds Arts Festival, June 17-19.
Original paintings by Usibelli will be on display and for sale at the EAF Foundation Gallery at the Anderson Center during the Festival. www.edmondsartsfestival.com.
Another beautiful poster for the Edmonds Arts Festival. The painting reminds me of the photo in this month’s Delta Sky Magazine in the section: “My Favorite Street” where Anna Faris writes about her love of Edmonds. Anyone flying Delta should look for it.
