Reminder: Edmonds Tree Board to host tree expert Cass Turnbull May 5

Northwest garden personality, teacher and author Cass Turnbull will be in Edmonds to speak on “The Seven Myths of Site, Selection and Care of Trees” from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 5 in the City Council Chambers, Public Safety Complex, 250 5th Ave. N.

Turnbull’s appearance is sponsored by the Edmonds Tree Board as part of its mission to provide outreach and educational opportunities in the community.

Turnbull is a graduate of Western Washington University and a Washington State Certified Landscaper and a Certified Arborist. After 11 years with the Seattle Parks Department, she founded Plant Amnesty, a private nonprofit organization that strives to educate the commercial and public sectors on responsible pruning and landscape management practices. Plant Amnesty’s goal to “end the senseless torture and mutilation of trees and shrubs” has gained local and national press. The organization now numbers nearly 1,300 members in 46 states and five countries.
