Recreational marijuana store open for business on Edmonds Way

Local Roots, the first legal cannabis store in the Edmonds area, officially opened for business on Friday morning in the old Mike’s Deli location at 23211 Edmonds Way, in unincorporated Esperance. Originally scheduled to begin business in March (see My Edmonds News coverage here), administrative changes at the state level delayed it by several weeks.

But when the doors finally opened, customers immediately started trickling in to the store and the cash register began ringing up sales.

“We’re really excited to be up and running, and part of the Edmonds community,” said manager Rahn Bruns. “We’re planning to reflect this with a warm, welcoming store featuring photos of local scenery and works by Edmonds-based artists. Local Roots is more than just our name — it’s our philosophy, it’s how we do business.”

With other locations in Granite Falls, Bothell, Brier and Everett, Bruns said that Local Roots — a family-and-friends-owned company — is committed to supporting community events and local charities, including Toys for Tots. The company is also working to be a leader in the legal cannabis business, by building strong relationships with top-notch suppliers, ensuring customers a wide variety of quality products, Bruns added.

“Think of this as our soft opening,” said Bruns. “We’re still bringing in product and filling our shelves, but we already have plenty for customers to choose from. Look for a grand ribbon-cutting opening in a few weeks.”

The Edmonds-area Local Roots store is open daily, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Learn more about the store on the Local Roots Facebook page here
