The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that Ron Clyborne will be the 2016 Grand Marshals of the An Edmonds Kind of 4th of July Parade.

Clyborne, a 25-year resident of Edmonds, is a well-known community volunteer who has supported many local organizations, including development of the Edmonds Center for the Arts and the Edmonds Community College Foundation.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of both the Cold War and Vietnam War, Clyborne has a particular passion for veterans issues. These include supporting Edmonds CC’s “Boots to Books Program” campaign for the college Veterans Resource Center Program, and co-chairing the Edmonds Veterans Plaza committee, which has raised over $450,000 for a plaza to honor and remember veterans for their service and sacrifices.

Clyborne, who served in the military from 1962-65, is an active member of Edmonds VFW Post 8870, American Legion Post 66 and the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).

He also served on the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 12-plus years and as the Chamber President for three years. He also spent 12 consecutive years chairing the Edmonds Chamber’s 4th of July program.
