The City of Edmonds said Thursday that the Edmonds Fishing Pier will have a “soft, partial opening” starting at 4 p.m., Aug. 19, so the public can take advantage of the end of salmon fishing and crabbing season.

Fishing pier construction is still not complete, so many of the site amenities will not be in place when the pier opens, the city said. Portions of the pier may be cordoned off from the public, and there will be occasional pier closures of limited duration so the contractor can move materials and equipment into place.

Full opening of the pier, along with a celebration, is expected by the end of September, the city said.
