Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation awards visual arts funding to local schools

foundationlogoThe annual Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Visual Arts Idea Grant application process took place this last month and the following educators in the Edmonds School District have received funding for visual art experiences for their students. This year, of 24 applications presented for consideration, 20 were funded.

Congratulations to the following educators in our local schools who have received grants for visual art experiences for their students.

  • Brier Elementary School, 6th Grade Totems – Shannon Tipple-Leen, parent volunteer, and the Brier Elementary Arts Committee
  • Cedar Park Christian School, Pottery Studio supplies – Ann Gillis, art teacher
  • Cedar Valley Community School, Art Club with Mona Fairbanks – Carole Lavelle, 4th grade teacher
  • College Place Elementary, Buddy Pottery – Jessica Braun, 1st grade teacher
  • College Place Elementary, Art Club Shirts – Jessica Braun, Art Club Coordinator
  • College Place Elementary, 6th Grade Legacy Project – Terra Lea Dennis, 6th grade math teacher and studio artist Mike O’Day
  • Madrona K-8, Social Studies, Science, and Art: An Integrated Arts Curriculum (3) – Rebecca Oram, 4th, 5th, 6th grade teacher and studio artist Jennifer de Mello e Souza
  • Maplewood K-8, Basic Drawing Lessons: Human Body/Facial Expressions – Mrs. Samione, 2nd grade teacher and studio artist, Mike O’Day
  • Martha Lake Elementary, Living Histories: Northwest Native American Art – Deniz Smith and Anna Walter, 4th grade teachers
  • Mountlake Terrace Elementary, The Magic of Ceramics continued – Tim McCarthy, art lead and 5th grade teacher, with Julie Perrine, studio artist
  • Alderwood Middle School, Self-Expression through Millinery Arts – Amy Barnes, Art Teacher and studio artist Erika Keshvadian
  • Brier Terrace Middle School, Clay Creations and Expressions – Laurie Albrecht, electives teacher, with studio artist Mike O’Day
  • College Place Middle, Raku Luminaries – Alison Stern, grades 7 & 8
  • Edmonds Woodway High School, Slab-built Sgraffito Jars and Bottles – Tanya Johnson, art teacher grades 9 – 12, and studio artist Julie Perrine
  • Lynnwood High School, Seattle Art Museum Experience, Megan Nebeker, visual arts
  • Meadowdale High School, Screen Printing, Visiting Artist – Alexsey Aluf and Samantha Perry, art teachers, with Kirstin Graudins, printmaking artist
  • Meadowdale High School, Meadowdale Arts Week – Alison Ersfeld, Arts Week Coordinator
  • Meadowdale High School, Inside Out Project – Chantelle Moran, Photo and AP 2D Studio Arts teacher
  • Scriber Lake High School, Tree Relief Mural for Scriber Lake High School – Liz Behrendt, art teacher, with studio artists Mike O’Day and Julie Perrin.
  • Scriber Lake High School, Texture, Pattern, Shape and Form – Hand-Built Clay with Julie Perrine Liz Behrendt, Art Teacher, funded by the 2016 EAF Director’s Visual Arts Idea Grant Award. EAF Foundation appreciates this acknowledgement of the visual arts education grants program and the opportunity to again highlight the efforts of the Edmonds Arts Festival Directors.

Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation congratulates these educators focusing on the visual arts and culture and the supportive local studio artists. With the additional support of volunteers and art docents, these programs are made possible.
