Free concert at Edmonds Veterans Plaza Sept. 2

The Edmonds Veterans Plaza was officially unveiled on Memorial Day 2017.

Three musical groups from Edmonds-Woodway High School — an orchestral quartet, a chamber duet and a jazz sectional — will perform in an hour-long concert from noon-1 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 2 at the recently opened Edmonds Veterans Plaza, 250 5th Ave. N.

The concert, which will take place during the Edmonds Museum Summer Market, was organized by local high school seniors Olivia Olson, Jacob Kitchen and Simon Lee “to fulfill the original goals of the plaza: To be a place of gathering, unity, and community,” Olson said.

Performers include:

Quartet: Helen Nguyen, violin; Elaina Johnson, violin; James Gamboa, viola and Andrew Kim, cello.

Chamber duet: Dana Winslow, violin and Andrew Kim, cello.

Jazz sectional: Miriel McFarland, drums; Edward Kim – piano; Rodney Ocfemia, bass; Stuart Harrison, tenor sax and Graeme Hafford, alto sax.

Though the concert is free, donations are appreciated and will go toward the Veterans Plaza.
