Reminder: Meet Edmonds City Council, port, school board candidates at Aug. 27 event

The Edmonds Neighborhood Action Coalition (ENAC) and Indivisible Edmonds are co-hosting a local candidate meet and greet on Sunday, Aug. 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 4th Ave. N. The public is invited to meet candidates running for Edmonds City Council, Edmonds School Board, and Port of Edmonds positions. Light refreshments will be provided.

“We want our community to get to know our candidates, to explore why they’re running and what their platforms are,” said Anabel Hovig, one of the event coordinators.

“Local elections have an immediate impact on our lives,” said Courtney Wooten, local community organizer. “These are the politicians who we have the greatest access to and who make decisions that affect us on a daily basis.”

The free event is intended to encourage greater voter turn out through community engagement. Event organizers will not be making endorsements or soliciting donations of any kind.

Edmonds Neighborhood Action Coalition describes itself as a “progressive, inclusive community with a mission of resisting oppression and injustice, encouraging political engagement, and advocating for equity.”

Indivisible Edmonds is a local chapter of Indivisible Plus Washington, “a non-partisan progressive group dedicated to building connection and community between allies fighting against a regressive agenda.”
