Cascade Symphony receives Hazel Miller Foundation grant

The Cascade Symphony Orchestra has been awarded a Hazel Miller Foundation grant for its new Youth Initiative Project. This grant ensures continuation and expansion of current CSO programs that relate directly to young musicians and audiences in the greater Edmonds area, the orchestra said. Funding from the grant will support the following specific projects:

•  Sponsorship of the Children’s Concert

•  CSO Rising Star participation

•  Student Gold Medal/Side-by-Side collaboration in CSO’s annual Sunday Holiday Concert

•  Expanded tuition support for low-income students to participate in the Edmonds School District’s Summer Music School

Thanks to scholarship assistance from CSO and the Hazel Miller Foundation grant, low-income students who formerly have considered the summer music school beyond their means will now have an opportunity to attend.

“Edmonds is so fortunate to have the Hazel Miller Foundation with its focus on local support,” the orchestra said in an announcement about the grant aware. “It is exciting to be strengthening bonds with our youth, helping train musicians and building audiences for the future. Because of the foundation’s assistance, CSO can increase opportunities for youth — the building blocks of our future.”
