It’s halfway to Saint Patrick’s Day, and the Irish and honorary Irish of Edmonds turned out in force to kick off the downhill slide to March 17 with Irish pipers, hats, garlands, shamrocks, chants of “Erin Go Bragh,” (that’s Ireland Forever for you non-Celts) and plenty of green beer.
With Engels’ Pub, Taki Tiki and Rory’s Bar and Grill providing the venues, the Kenmore and District Pipe Band made the rounds on Saturday evening, marching between each location and serving up a steady helping of traditional Celtic pipe and drum music that kept feet tapping and beer taps flowing.
“What a blast,” said one patron at Engel’s. “I think we have a new tradition here!”
