Update at 4:15 p.m. with additional information about the suspect and incident.

The body of a missing 6 year-old boy was located Tuesday morning in a dumpster at the apartment complex where he lived at the 15700 block of 44th Ave. W.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said there is evidence that the boy was the victim of homicide. Major Crimes detectives are investigating and a 19 year-old male relative from Kerville, Texas was taken into custody Tuesday morning and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for murder by Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect is a relative of the victim, Ireton said. Tuesday afternoon, additional details were released.

The suspect told detectives he filled a bathtub with water on Monday afternoon with the intention of drowning Pakko, according to court documents. He admitted to calling the boy into the bathroom and holding him under the water for approximately 30 seconds before he stopped moving. Then, he left the bathroom with the boy face down in the water for approximately six minutes.

Court documents allege he then changed the boy’s clothes, wrapped the body in a blanket and placed him in a cardboard box, which was then put in a nearby dumpster.

Cause and manner of death, as well as confirmation of the body’s identification, are pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. The suspect’s name will not be released until his first court appearance, Ireton said.

A Go Fund Me site has been created for the family. Also, Creekside Church will open at 7 p.m. Tuesday to support those in the community, 7011 226 Pl. S.W. in Mountlake Terrace.

Dayvid Pakko was reported missing just before 5 p.m. Monday night. He was mildly autistic and was last seen in his home in the 15700 block of 44th Avenue West around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
