The Edmonds Chamber Foundation has established an Edmonds Community College Foundation annual scholarship to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a health care, humanities/arts, or business degree at Edmonds CC.
“Our hope is that a local resident will be able to further their education and bring those skills, learned at Edmonds Community College, back into our community to improve the quality of life for all residents,” said Lillyan Hendershot, president of the Edmonds Chamber Foundation.
The funding of the ECCF scholarship dovetails with the Chamber Foundation’s mission to support the economic, recreational and educational interests of the Edmonds area business community and its citizens. This $4,500 scholarship will cover an Edmonds CC student’s tuition, fees and books for the 2018-2019 academic year.
“This new Edmonds Chamber Foundation scholarship is a great example of visionary stewardship from our community members that will have transformational impact for local students because of an empowering partnership created by the Edmonds Chamber Foundation and volunteer leaders, so thank you,” said Brad Thomas, Executive Director of the Edmonds Community College Foundation.
The scholarship recipient will be chosen by a committee comprised of Chamber Foundation board members, employees and volunteers and also Edmonds CC Foundation employees. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and reside within the Edmonds School District or be a graduate of an Edmonds School District high school. They must also be pursuing a degree in health care, humanities/arts, or business.
The Edmonds CC Foundation annual scholarship application opens Feb. 22. The deadline is March 19, and scholarship recipients will be notified in May.
