Military veteran Dan Doyle was the guest speaker at Edmonds-based Holy Rosary School’s Veterans Day ceremony Thursday. The Navy Hospital Corpsman read the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields” to the students. The poem, by World War I Colonel John McCrae, inspired poppies as a symbol of remembrance for war veterans.

Several military veterans with connections to Holy Rosary participated in the ceremony, while dozens more were honored from afar during a slide show. The students and staff saluted and applauded them for their service.
