Edmonds PD dog has his day: K-9 Hobbs nabs armed robbery suspect

Edmonds Police Officer Jason Robinson with K-9 Hobbs.

Edmonds police gave credit to K-9 officer Hobbs for apprehending a suspect in Lynnwood Saturday afternoon following an armed robbery in Mountlake Terrace.

A man reported that three male suspects had broken into his residence through a back window in the 21500 block of 52nd Place West at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. The suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint and got away with his phone and car keys, leaving the scene in a green Chevrolet Tahoe.

Shortly after the incident, an Edmonds police officer reported that he saw the suspects’ vehicle in the 6800 block of 196th Street Southwest.

“The Edmonds officer advised that the vehicle stopped in the road and two male suspects fled south on foot,” a police report stated. The Tahoe headed east on 196th Street Southwest and turned north onto 68th Avenue West, police said.

Officers set up a containment perimeter and requested Edmonds K-9 assistance.

The Edmonds K-9 unit of Hobbs and Officer Jason Robinson located one of the suspects, who was taken into custody. The second suspect, the driver of the Tahoe and the vehicle were not located, police said.

The victim’s cell phone and car keys were recovered in the 6800 block of 196th Street Southwest, near where the suspects fled the vehicle.

The captured suspect was treated at Swedish Edmonds before being interviewed by detectives and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for robbery and burglary.
