Reminder: Dig into the past with Edmonds Museum’s ‘Archaeology at Night’ May 4

Mingle with professional archaeologists at the Edmonds Historical Museum’s Archaeology at Night. This after-hours exploration of local history will open to the public on Friday, May 4, from 5-8 p.m. Local state, federal, tribal, and professional archaeologists will be on hand to showcase projects and artifacts collected in the Greater Puget Sound area and to offer artifact identification.

“Our aim is to engage and encourage curiosity while connecting people with their own heritage,” archaeologist Emily Scott. This event associates people with the archeology of the area, and hopefully solves a few mysteries regarding those quirky items passed down in families or found in the garage. Artifact identification is a fun way to learn about those tangible and touchable items often kept behind museum walls and exhibits.

The public is encouraged to bring in a maximum of two items for artifact identification — stone tools (chipped or ground stone), animal bones and other faunal items, glass bottles or vessels, ceramics, and other mysterious historic items. No value or authentications will be given at this event — artifact identification is for educational purposes only. This all-ages event is free and open to the public.

The Edmonds Historical Museum is located at 118 5th Ave N, Edmonds. You can learn more about this event and read about Archaeology at Night presenters here.
