The North Sound SeaWolves FC finalized its roster heading into preseason training with the signings of four players, including Premier Development League veteran Mark Conrad. Also signing with the SeaWolves were defenders Ben Elliott, Gene Tibbetts and Amara Toure. Elliott and Tibbetts were both signed after going through the tryout process with the SeaWolves in the preseason.

“These guys are still young but they have a lot of experience,” SeaWolves owner/coach Alex Silva said. “They all should compete for playing time and make us better.”

Conrad, a 6-foot-3 wing player, has spent time with PDL clubs the Tacoma Tide, Kitsap Pumas and Washington Crossfire, for whom he scored a goal in eight games last season. Conrad, who played in college at Puget Sound and Willamette, played professionally for Serbian club FK Vojvodina.

“Mark is someone who most people in the soccer community here know well,” Silva said. “He has great experience, he’s going to be a good leader for us. He’s tall, gives us a physical presence and knows how to score. He’s a great addition for us.”

Elliott, a 6-5 center back, is a native of Manchester, England. He played for several semi-pro teams in his home country and showcased himself at the United Soccer Leagues combine in January.

“Ben impressed us from the first time we saw him in our open tryouts,” Silva said. “He’s very vocal, a very strong leader who also has good ball skills in the back. He’s good at organizing and and should help our back line stay in shape.”

Tibbetts, a native of Alaska, was a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American at Yavapai JC in 2009 when, as the team MVP, he led the club to a 26-0 record and the national title.

“Gene showed us a lot of aggressiveness in our tryouts and I liked that,” Silva said. “He’s a very physical defender, fast and never seemed to get tired. He’s going to really push the rest of our guys to play as hard as he does.”

Toure is a native of Everett, who played at Mariner High School and Everett Community College.

“Amara is a local guy and we like that,” Silva said. “He’s young, he’s athletic. I’m looking forward to seeing how he’ll develop.”

The SeaWolves, a member of the Northwest Division of the PDL, the highest level of amateur soccer in the United States, began their preseason practice on Wednesday. Their 16-game season begins May 20 at Fraser Valley. They will play eight home games at Edmonds Stadium, starting on June 1 against the Washington Crossfire.
