I have watched Ms Buckshnis interview and can say that my opinion is different than her’s regarding several issues that she discusses, but I won’t get into opinions. However, I do have to mention an incorrect statement that she made. She said that before she got on council the quarterly reports were never on the city’s website; that is untrue. A check of the website will reveal that they’ve been there for several years.

    Ron,

Before Diane Buckshnis was appointed to the City Council, Mayor Haakenson and City Finance department never produced a 4th Quarter Budget Report for City Council and Public review.

    This is a fact!

    Finis:

Ms. Buckshnis statement was that before she got on the council there were no quarterly reports on the city’s website. Neither she or I referred only to the 4th quarter – that’s soley your language. Check the website; they’ve been there for several years.

It is possible that there were not separate Q4 reports, as that info would have been included in reports for the full year.

    Ron:

You have lost your common sense.

The 4th Quarter Budget Report includes October, November and December and were never posted on the City’s website. Nor did you review them while on the City Council. Clearly and without any doubt the 4th Quarter is included in the definition of “Quarterly Reports”.

I have check the City’s website. The links to previous year Quarterly Budget Reports don’t work.

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report isn’t a Quarterly Budget Report and not available until after the 2nd Quarter of the following year.

    You are being unfactual.

    Finis:

You have said “I have check the City’s website. The links to previous year Quarterly Budget Reports don’t work.” Isn’t it common sense that links would only exist for reports that have been produced? Today there’s obviously some temporary technical problem.

Many organizations do not produce Q4 financial reports because the data is included as a part of the report for the full year. And the data comes much later than for the prior 3 quarters because there’s more work involved finalizing the December numbers.

  6. finis tupper on July 3rd, 2011 at 2:02 pm

    Ron:

Oh brother, please contact Carl Nelson and verify the “continuing” temporary technical problem.

Ask Carl just how long ago Haakenson had those links deleted. And please Ron post his answer, along with your apology to Councilperson Buckshnis.

I double dare you to admit you are wrong.

  7. Ron Wambolt on July 3rd, 2011 at 4:39 pm

    Finis:

I don’t have to contact Carl; it’s currently working right now. The oldest report on the Finance Dept site is Q4 2009, but you can go to the finance meeting agendas and see the quarterly reports there. I did some spot checks of the 2008 agendas as well as 2006.

The fact is, Ms. Buckshnis is not responsible for quarterly budget reports being on the city’s website. They’ve been there!

  8. Finis Tupper on July 3rd, 2011 at 7:35 pm

    Ron:

Take a look at the May 11, 2010 Council Agenda for the Council Finance Committee and item 2009 Annual Budget Review.

    http://agenda.ci.edmonds.wa.us/agenda_publish.cfm?mt=ALL&get_month=5&get_year=2010&dsp=agm&seq=3047&rev=0&ag=419&ln=9707&nseq=3048&nrev=0&pseq=&prev=#ReturnTo9707

If not for Councilmember Buckshnis, the 2009 4th Quarter wouldn’t be available for Council and citizen review and posted on the City’s website.

She is in fact responsible for all quarterly budget reports being on the city’s website. You are wrong and being unfactual.

You say you gone through the previous years agendas point me to a 4th Qtr Budget between 2006-2008. What happened to the links for 2005/2006/2007/2008/1st 2nd 3rd Quarter of 2009?

  9. Ron Wambolt on July 3rd, 2011 at 7:50 pm

    Finis:

I’ll leave it to the rational people on this site to determine who’s factual.

    Ron:

Don’t you agree the number Seven is a very lucky number!?
